Allan H. Hanson

Allan H. Hanson, age 91, of Merrill, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Allan was born May 2, 1922, in Merrill, son of the late Olaf and Margaret (Yunkherr) Hanson.  He married Betty Alft on November 15, 1947 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill.  She survives.  Allan had served in the United States Army during World War II.  He attained the rank of Corporal and had been a tank driver.  Allan served with Company A of the 44th Tank Battalion of the 12th Armored Division in the Pacific.  He had been employed at Merrill Manufacturing for over 40 years.  Allan’s family and home were very important to him.  Allan was an active member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill, where he had been an usher and he served on the church council. 
Survivors include his wife of over 66 years, Betty Hanson, of Merrill; two daughters, Karen (Robert) McDonald, of Stevens Point and Judy (Lucky) Anger, of Milwaukee; one son, Steve Hanson, of Merrill; one grandson, Shaun Wahlig, of Milwaukee; and one sister, June O’Connor, of Madison.  Allan was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen (Harold) Wetzel; one brother, James (Jane) Hanson; and one brother-in-law, Russ O’Connor.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 10, 2014, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  The Rev. Kyle Carnes will officiate.  Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
