Irene H. Siesennop

Irene H. Siesennop, age 101, of Merrill, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at her home, under the care of her family and hospice services. 
Irene was born September 19, 1912, in the Tomahawk area of Lincoln County, daughter of the late Nels and Clara (Krause) Bergquist. She married Carl P. Siesennop on May 30, 1935, in Bessemer, Michigan. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1982. Irene and Carl had been rural school teachers prior to moving to Chicago. They were both employed at Selastomer Chicago, Inc. Irene was the bookkeeper and Carl was Personnel Manager. Upon their retirement, the couple moved to the Merrill area in the late 1970’s and built their retirement home. Irene was a member and volunteer at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, and was also a member of the Valparaiso Guild at the church. Irene enjoyed volunteering at the Merrill Hospital, traveling, playing bridge, bowling, and spending time with her investment club. 
Survivors include her daughter in law, Claudia Siesennop; four grandchildren, Terri Briski, Thomas (Debbie) Siesennop, Tracy (David) Wetherton, and Rebecca (David) Small; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Siesennop; three sisters, Verna Ball, Loris Delano, and Dorothy Smith; and a brother, Henry. 
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Family and friends will gather at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Taylor and Stine Funeral Home. 
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, or the American Cancer Society.
