Reed’s family is dedicated to the ideal of Scouting as is evident by his grandfather, Al Schult, being an adult leader for more than 30 years. Additionally, his father, great uncle, Dave Nelson, and cousin, Robert Nelson are all Eagle Scouts.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Reed organized, planned and led the construction of the second set of stairs to the swimming beach at Council Grounds State Park.
Reed has completed a total of 29 merit badges, 12 of which are Eagle required. He has served as Troop Guide, Librarian, Patrol Leader, and Bugler. Reed has also served as a Den Chief for the last three years for Cub Scout Pack 599.
Reed is currently the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 599. He became a member of The Order of The Arrow at Camp Tesomas in July 2012. He became a Brotherhood Member in July 2013 and is currently serving as OA Vice Chapter Chief. Reed is also a member of Merrill Venture Crew 555 sponsored by the Merrill Noon Optimists.
