Christ Lutheran Church will be hosting an educational workshop with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans designed to help educate participants on the basics of social security and strategies for maximizing social security benefits. Called “Savvy Social Security Planning: What Baby Boomers Need to Know to Maximize Retirement Income,” the 50 minute workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Christ Lutheran Church, 1204 N. Sales St., Merrill. The workshop will be presented by Bart Malcomson, Regional Specialist with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
During the course of the program, participants will gain a basic understanding of social security and strategies for maximizing benefits, including: Five factors to consider when deciding when to apply for benefits; how to minimize taxes on Social Security benefits; and how to coordinate Social Security with your other sources of retirement income.
