Evening of Elegance

The Merrill Habitat for Humanity will be hosting an Evening of Elegance in which guests will be treated to a few hours of mainstream jazz by the Matt Callope Ensemble, wine, beer, sodas and Hors d’oeuvres. Merrill Habitat is pairing this effort with the Painted Chair Auction.

The festivities will take place on Saturday evening, Nov. 9 at the newly renovated Merrill Historical Society, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The tickets are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce, River Valley Bank, and at Aunt Lou’s Antiques and Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe for $25 each. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

The chairs that will be auctioned have been carefully painted and created by many of Merrill’s local artists. You may preview the chairs prior to the auction at many of Merrill’s local businesses. You will be able to vote for your favorite chairs by putting quarters into a jar. The money collected will determine which chairs are our community’s favorites. The coins collected will then be exchanged for Merrill dollars and returned to the top three artists. First place will receive $25, second place will be $15, and third place will be $10, with the remainder of the money going to Habitat. All of the chairs will be up for auction on the evening of Nov. 9.

Merrill Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Its mission is to provide safe and quality housing for families that qualify.
