James E. Kimmins

James E. Kimmins, age 82, of Merrill, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Jim was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Chicago, son of the late James A. and Eda O. (Thorsdahl) Kimmons. He married Marion J. Streich on June 4, 1955, in Merrill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2012.
After 38 1/2 years of working at Wausau Paper Mill – Brokaw, Jim retired in 1993. Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1951. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1954. Jim was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Merrill. He enjoyed walking, cribbage, occasional casino trips, and baking Christmas cookies.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Andy) Norris, of Brighton, MI; two sons, Dennis (Christine) Kimmins and Brad Kimmins, both of Merrill; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Derek) Janssen, Lynsey Kimmins, Quinn, Brenna and Ian Norris, and Brandon, Greg and Nicole Kimmins; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Dominic; two sisters, Dolly (Dale) Peterson, of Irma, and Shirley Jean (James) Martin, of Bakersfield, CA; one brother, Robert Kimmons, of Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Judy Kimmons, of Irma, and Harriet Kimmons, of Medford; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; his parents, James and Eda Kimmons; and four siblings, Delores, Dale, Donald, and Leonard Kimmons.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. James Weiland will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill. The visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
