Stay Active, Be Healthy, Feel Great

Like most people, you probably already know that being physically active is good for you, regardless of your health or physical abilities. Regular exercise and physical activity can not only help you maintain and improve your physical strength and fitness, but can increase balance, prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, breast and colon cancer and osteoporosis. Did you know that regular exercise also helps reduce feelings of depression, improves mood and overall well-being?
The crisp cool days of autumn will be knocking on our door before we know it. Cool nights and shorter days leave fewer opportunities for some of those outdoor activities that we love to do in the summer months that keep us active and healthy. Although the outdoors can provide wonderful opportunities to stay active, whether it’s biking, hiking or swimming, indoor group-based activities can also provide their own unique benefits as well. Group-based activities provide opportunities to meet people with similar lifestyle goals and needs and make friends who keep you motivated. The Aging and Disability Resource Center provides many unique educational and fitness opportunities to help keep you healthy, active and safe as we head into the beautiful, but chilly days of fall.
