MAPS School Board announces process for filling board vacancy, electing president

At its regular meeting on July 23, the Merrill Area Public School Board explained the process that will be used to fill the vacancy left by Jeff Verdoorn. Mr. Verdoorn announced earlier that month that he had to leave the board, due to work commitments.
In accordance with board policy, the school board has posted a notice inviting community members who are interested in serving to submit a letter of interest and their resume to the district office. The deadline for the application will be Aug. 30. Board members will then interview and select the new board member on Sept. 11.
Since Mr. Verdoorn was the board president at the time of his departure, the board will select a new president in a vote on Aug. 12.
