Marion R. Ament

Marion R. Ament, 92, of Merrill, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, under the care of her family, the nursing home staff, and hospice care.
Marion was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Merrill, daughter of the late Frank and Hattie (Groskoph) Cotey. She married David Ament on May 31, 1941, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2003.
Marion had worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, from 1939 until 1976. She had also worked for the Lincoln County Nursing Services as a home health aide. Marion was a member of the ‘Mad Hatters’ Red Hat Club. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, putting puzzles together, taking care of her grandchildren, reading western novels, and watching western movies. Marion had been a union representative while at Weinbrenner’s. She was a member of the former Sweet Adeline’s of Merrill, and had been a Red Cross Volunteer at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne (Mrs. Michael) Lentz, Merrill, Kathleen (Mrs. Clifton) Plisch, Athens, and Marilyn Ament (with friend, Ed Conn) of Merrill; one son, David Ament, Jr. of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Nathan (wife, Heather) Hinz, Brandon Hinz (with fiancee, Danyel Logan), Edwin (wife, Laurie) Plisch, Karrie (husband, Steve) Reid, Hailey DeVoy, and Michael (with wife, Robin) Lentz; five great grandchildren, Marissa, Macy, and Matthew Lentz, and Mykenzie and Lexi Hinz; and four step great grandchildren, Morgan, Meghan, Marissa, and Ryan. Besides her parents and husband, Marion is preceded in death by six siblings, Helen (Mrs. William) Haeger, Dorothy (Mrs. James) McCarthy, Louise (Mrs. Bud) Lokemoen, Betty (Mrs. Melvin) Harkness, Frank (wife, Helen) Cotey, Jr., and an infant sister.
The funeral was held Thursday, July 25, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial is in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com.
