Merrill City Band Three Ring Circus?Take Two

The Merrill City Band officially started the concert season last week with an evening of patriotic and other American music. This week marks the band’s second attempt at The Three Ring Circus concert, after being rained out on June 26.
The evening will include pre-concert entertainment and concessions. The Lions Club is selling hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, potato chips, soda, and water beginning at 5:30 p.m. HAVEN will be selling lemonade and popcorn. Ringmaster Ron Behm, juggler John Kilgust (if he makes it back to town in time; cross your fingers), and the Wurlitzer Band Organ of Dick Lokemoen will be featured throughout the night. The kids can enjoy face painting, balloons, a stuffed animal parade (bring your favorite one), and a “tightrope contest.” The band encourages you to get in the spirit of things and join them in dressing up in circus attire for the evening. You never know when a prize might be handed out to someone decked out in circus wear.
Some great old-fashioned circus marches, along with other selections including “Lassus Trombone,” “Baby Elephant Walk,” and the clarinet feature “The Pie In The Face” polka will put you in a festive circus mood.
On Wednesday, July 17, the band will entertain you with “This Concert Is So Cliche.”
Each concert will have a 50/50 raffle and gift certificates from local businesses will be given away. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the sounds of the city band. And why wait til 7:30? Get there early, bring a picnic supper (or buy one from local organizations at the park when available), and treat yourself to a little night music.
