Post 93 keeps rolling with Antigo win

The Tomahawk American Legion Post 93 baseball team may have only managed to play one game between the raindrops after Sunday last week, but the boys made it count to keep their record spotless.
Post 93 handled Antigo 8-2 on Tuesday.
“This was a solid game all around,” Tomahawk manager Wes Roessler said. “We had great pitching, almost flawless defense and were able to come up with some big hits when needed.
“Jon (Nyberg) pitched another quality game. When he got into some jams, he was able to pitch out of it by making some great pitches.
“It was a great sign to see our guys come out and hit the ball the way they did early in the game. They carried over the success from the Rhinelander tournament into this game against a very good Antigo team.”
Nyberg limited Antigo to just 4 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 5. Just one of the two runs was earned.
Tomahawk jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, watched Antigo pull back within 3-1 in the 3rd, then put it away with two in the 5th and three in the 6th.
The locals racked up 10 hits, 4 walks and 3 stolen bases. Eight different players scored, and five drove in runs. Leading the offense were: Jordan Roessler (2-3, 2 RBI); Fletcher Schoone (2-3); and Trevor Iwen (2-3).
Post 93 held a 10-0 mark heading into Monday’s game with Wausau East.
