Superintendent’s Corner

The Long Cold Winter
When I look out of my window, I see something that I don’t usually expect in late April: piles of snow and a weather forecast that includes snow flurries.
The weather is forcing many of us to reschedule plans, and to continue looking forward to the warm and sunny days of spring and the coming summer. I keep telling myself, students, staff members, and parents to hang in there and remember that it is almost May and summer will be here soon.
As a teacher and administrator, I know that spring can present a challenge for education, as welcome as it is. After a long cold winter, keeping students focused on their work is difficult, as young minds drift to playing outside in the new spring weather.
A late spring is just as difficult, because it is easy to forget just how far along in the school year we really are.
What is important is that in all aspects of our lives, we continue being hopeful in the face of challenges.
For all of our students, parents, and staff members, I would like to emphasize that we are now in the final stretch of the school year. Hang in there, continue striving for excellence, and let’s have a great end to another exciting school year!
