Church Mutual announces Vandenberg promotion

Herman Vandenberg has been promoted to Vice President – Treasurer/Corporate Controller at Church Mutual Insurance Company.
Vandenberg has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Norbert College and is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2010.
Vandenberg has been with Church Mutual for 26 years. He began his career as an Accountant/Internal Auditor in Accounting and Administration. He was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in March 1996 and Treasurer in January 1998.
In his new role, Vandenberg will make improvements to existing standards and establish new standards for the finance department. He will lead in the property and casualty insurer’s internal control structure, general ledger, work flow review and establishment of career paths for department personnel.
“Herman has a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge,” Church Mutual President and CEO Mike Ravn said. “Additionally, he is viewed as a key business partner by his peers and leaders at our company. He will be looked upon to provide enhanced strategic initiatives and direction for the department.”
Church Mutual, which employs 901 people, is rated A (Excellent) by industry rating analyst A.M. Best. It insures more than twice as many religious organizations as its nearest competitor.
