Gloria K. Lukes, age 52, of Merrill, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Gloria was born November 12, 1960, in Merrill, daughter of the late Victor Lukes and Joan (Koehler) Lukes, Merrill. She was currently employed at both Liberty Mutual Insurance, Wausau, and with the Lincoln County Fair Board. Gloria was an active member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. She was a former member of the church council and was a past recipient of the “Faith Award”. Gloria was also active in the 4-H. She was currently a member of the Merrill Busy Bee’s 4-H Club and as a youth belonged to the Corning Yankee’s 4-H Club. Gloria was proud to devote her time to “Relay for Life”. She enjoyed scrap booking, her book club, and spending time with her friends and their once a month ‘girls night out’ for dinner.
Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Jo Monson, Merrill; her mother, Joan Lukes, Merrill; two grandchildren, Chase and Carson Jo; her sister, Laurie (husband, Rev. John M.) Humphrey, Merrill, and her brother, Steven (wife, Jennifer) Lukes, Athens; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Lukes.
The funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the church.
