Tomahawk business broken into twice over weekend

Deputies responding to an alarm on Friday morning discovered a break-in to a Town of Bradley business, and investigated an identical case late Saturday night at the same business. At 3:24 a.m. an alarm company phoned the Sheriff’s Office and advised an alarm was sounding at Stanton’s General Store on Gatewood Heights Rd. When deputies arrived on the scene a short time later they found where the building had been forcibly entered. Oneida County deputies along with a K9 officer from the Three Lakes Police Department assisted in checking the area. On Saturday at 9:30 p.m. an alarm sounded again and when a deputy and trooper arrived minutes later a witness who was parked nearby to exchange children told them he had just saw a man crawl out of a window. Numerous deputies from Lincoln and Oneida County, troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol and a Tomahawk Police Officer assisted in forming a perimeter as a K9 from the Lac Du Flambeau Police Department tracked through the woods but law enforcement was hindered by blowing snow and extreme temperatures. Deputies have collected evidence from the scene and are continuing their investigation but so far it does not appear anything was taken during either incident. During a burglary in October of 2012 numerous guns were stolen. If you have any information on this break in, or saw any suspicious activity around the business early Friday morning you are asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 715-453-5747 or 715-536-6272. Callers may also call Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County at 715-536-3726. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
