Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program offered in Merrill

New Year’s resolutions, in an effort to get healthier, can be forgotten within a matter of a few days after Jan. 1. However, for people who want to keep that resolution, there will be a new fitness class in Merrill that starts the week of Jan. 15. This is a fitness program for adults who may want a gentle exercise program to get fit or want relief from arthritis pain.
Starting Tuesday, Jan. 15, Bell Tower Residence is partnering with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Central WI and offering Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program classes to the public. This proven and effective program features gentle, joint-safe exercises originally developed for people with arthritis to help relieve stiffness, decrease arthritis pain and improve balance.
The course incorporates the use of resistance bands and weights for an added workout, as well as interactive health education lessons and stress-reducing relaxation techniques. The low-impact exercises can be done while sitting or standing.
Class will be led by certified Arthritis Foundation Instructor Cindy Wescott. The 8-week program will be offered Tuesday, Jan. 15 through Thursday, March 7 and meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Cost for 16 classes is $45 ($2.81/class) if prepaid at the first class or $3/class for walk-ins.
Classes will be held at Bell Tower Residence in the Assisi Room located at 1500 O’Day Street in Merrill. This program is open to the public, and walk-ins are welcome. For more information or to register, please contact Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central WI – Merrill, at (715) 536-0311.
