Hatchets skewer Hodags

The Hatchet boys hockey team cut loose for a lop-sided 10-0 triumph over Rhineladner in last Thursday’s GNC match-up.
“We didn’t score until there were seven minutes left in the first period,” THS coach Jake Flohr said. “We came out more relaxed. They need to get up like when they play the stronger teams like Pines and Waupaca.
“I said, ‘This isn’t what we talked about. I want my 15 shots a period,’ and that’s what happened. That’s how you get your goals.”
Tomahawk improved to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference, while the Hodags fell to 2-7 and 1-6.
The Hatchets spread out their scoring with four goals in the 1st, two in the 2nd and four in the 3rd.
The game was deadlocked early before THS ripped off four goals in less than three minutes. Kris Gaedtke (A- Nick Buitron) netted one with 12:38 elapsed to start the run, then Trevor Iwen (13:20, A- Chris Parker), Colton Kammer (14:37, A- A.J. Bunce, Kevin Bolder) and Jakob Panzer (15:28, A- Iwen, Alex Ungerer) followed suit.
Bolder (A- Bunce) tallied one just 1:32 into the 2nd, and Panzer (A- Ungerer) scored on the power play with 9:46 gone.
Ungerer (A- Panzer, Buitron) and Bolder (A- Bunce, Kammer) scored just 1:54 and 2:08 into the 3rd. Panzer (A- Iwen) reached the hattrick at 10:48, and Iwen (A- Ungerer, Panzer) capped it at 15:58.
