Boys top Medford

The Hatchet boys took it up another notch in Thursday’s road meet with Medford, prevailing 92-60.
“It was an awesome meet,” THS coach Marion Kohl said. “The guys went into the meet confident in what they needed to do and got the job done. The disqualifications that plagued the team last week have mostly been resolved and we netted 1st place finishes in 2 out of 3 of the relays and 5 out of 8 of the individual events. It was a real boost to win a meet.”
The Hatchets actually trailed 27-17 after three events, but turned it up with wins backed up by high finishes in six the next seven events.
THS went 1-2 in the 50 free with Aaron Becker (:27.36) and Phoenix Ehn (:30.02) and the 100 back with Josh Phillips (1:19.91) and Paul Schneiderwent (1:34.81).
It also placed 1st and 3rd in the 100 fly with Logan Loretz (1:12.46) and Vic Ierulli (1:33.31), the 100 free with Becker (1:06.06) and Ehn (1:11.06), the 100 brea with Loretz (1:21.98) and Kameron Knipfer (1:26.46) and the 200 free relay (Ehn, Knipfer, Loretz, Ierulli, 1:52.85/Schneiderwent, Ben Yirsa, Wyatt Schumitsch, Mesha Harcinovic, 2:10.06). The 400 free squad of Kuehn, Harciniovic, Becker and Ierulli also won (4:40.66).
The Hatchets placed 2-3 in the 500 free (Kuehn, 7:46.36/Harcinovic, 7:51.26) and the 200 medley (Phillips, Knipfer, Yirsa, Ehn, 2:19.93/Schneiderwent, Loretz, Harcinovic, Becker, 2:21.54).
