Wilma A. Bloomquist

Wilma A. Bloomquist, age 92, of Merrill, formerly of Gleason, found her heavenly home on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Wilma was born on January 30, 1920, in Gleason, daughter of the late William and Anna (Klein) Kippenberg. She married her high school sweetheart Edgar ‘Eggs’ Bloomquist on April 8, 1937, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2005. While living in Indiana, Wilma worked as a hostess for Holiday Inn and was a school lunch clerk. Wilma will be remembered for the beautiful eggs she decorated and gave to family members for Christmas every year. She will also be remembered for her ceramic work and her great cooking. Wilma was active in the Ladies Aid, the Quilters, and the LWML at her church, Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason.

Survivors include two sons, William (Elaine) Bloomquist, of Franklin, IN, and Michael (Kathy) Bloomquist, of Gleason; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Judy) Bloomquist, of Micanopy, FL, Daniel Bloomquist, of Porter, IN, Donald (Bernice) Bloomquist, of Valparaiso, IN, Michelle (Brian) Walker, of Greenwood, IN, Shari (David) Gerrard, of Riner, VA, Rebecca (Christian) Johnson, of Greenwood, IN, Julie (Jamie) Belant, of Merrill, and Eric Bloomquist, of Wasilla, AK; 21 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Diane (Gene) Worthen, of Walkerton, IN; a special niece, Shirley (Donald) Jacobi, of Gleason; and a brother-in-law, Roy Bloomquist, of Golden Valley, Minnesota. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; her parents, William and Anna Kippenberg; one son, Richard Bloomquist; and two sisters, Frieda Gibson and Mary Catlin.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. The Rev. Hans J. Heisinger will officiate. Burial will take place at Luther Memorial Church Cemetery, Town of Russell. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to missions.
