THS swimmers crack their marks

The Hatchet swim team set 16 personal records and a team mark while placing ninth of 15 teams in Saturday’s WIAA Stevens Point Sectional.
Morgan Weber cut the THS 50 free record to :25.86, bumping Kim Kuber’s 2005 mark of :25.90, while placing third.
“Weber’s mark just missed the state qualifying time of :25.53,” THS coach Theresa L’Esperance said. “Swimming for the last time were Hannah Schmit and Kelsey Maki. Both seniors were terrific role models for the very young sectional team.”
Ashwaubenon ran away with the meet with 385.5 points to 219 for River Falls. Tomahawk scored 116.
Weber also ranked 4th in the 100 free (:57.40), while THS took 11th and 13th in the 100 back with Katherine Russell (1:10.25) and Maki (1:11.97), and 11th and 18th with Mikhayla Kleich (5:59.49) and Baylee Dallman (6:13.67) in the 500 free.
The 200 medley team of Russell, Michaela Galganski, Maki and Weber swam 7th in 2:01.87. The 200 free group of Galganski, Schmit, Karli Cecil and Weber was 10th in 1:50.20, and the 400 free squad of Schmit, Kleich, Russell and Cecil was 10th in 4:10.25.
Kleich (12th, 200 free, 2:12.01), Galganski (12th, 100 brea, 1:18.92), Cecil (13th, 100 fly, 1:10.16), Maki (15th, 100 fly, 1:10.86) and Dallman (16th, 200 IM, 2:39.55) also pushed top finishes.
Kleich set PR’s in all three of her events, two breaking into THS top-10 swims including 3rd-best in the 500 free and 6th-best 200 free. Weber PR’ed three times including the 4th-best 100 free. Cecil’s fly race was 7th-best.
