Robert D. Annis

Robert D. Annis, age 85, of Merrill, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at Wausau
Aspirus Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1927 in Merrill, the son of the late Ellsworth Sr and Alma (Pankow) Annis. He married the former Dena Suwyn on September 27, 1948 in Merrill. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2007.
Bob was a 1945 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War 2. After the war, Bob worked at various service stations in the Merrill area and owned and operated Bob’s Sinclair Station on Merrill’s west side. He then did custodial work for Trinity Lutheran Church and School for 20 years. After retiring from Trinity, he became a Funeral Assistant for Waid Funeral Home for over 20 years until his death. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, where he was a member of the choir in his earlier years and had served on the board of Elders, Trustees and Education. He was a 65 year member of VFW Post 1638 in Merrill. Bob enjoyed woodworking and camping.
Survivors include his son, Jeffrey (Linda) Annis, daughter, Cindy (Steven) Latzig both of Merrill. His grandchildren, Brenda (Robert) Strozewski of McKinney, TX, Robert (Elizabeth) Latzig of Plover, Sarah (John) Tomajcik of Merrill and Stephanie (Toby) Goetz of Kellner. Step-grandchildren; Jessie (Tracey) Sawczuk, Cristy (Richard) Seefeldt and Amy Pehlke all of Merrill. His great-grandchildren; Corban, Trinity and Dena Strozewski, Quinten Tomajcik and Ava Latzig. Step-great grandchildren; Devon, Derek and Jenna Sawczuk, Tori, Summer and Luke Seefeldt and Vincent Keenan. 2 sisters; Muriel (Dale) Kopetzky of Merrill and Carol Jean (John) Krueger of Neenah. One brother, James (Yvonne) Annis of Gainsville, FL. 2 sisters-in-law; Jayne Annis and Joni Annis of Merrill and Darlene Annis of DeFuniak Springs, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dena, a grandson, Jesse Annis, 4 brothers; Charlie, Ellsworth Jr, Larry and Phillip and 2 sisters; Delores Neumann and Donna Ziglinski.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Wednsday, October10, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4PM to 8 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Waid Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 2PM to 3PM at the church.
