Marathon drops bomb on THS

Marathon spoiled Tomahawk’s Homecoming celebration on Friday night by scoring five first-half touchdowns for a 35-0.
The Red Raiders would close it out at 42-0.
“It was a very frustrating loss,” THS coach John Larson said. “Our preparation during the week in practice did not come to the game-field.
“We did not play well in all phases of the game. Marathon dominated play at the line of scrimmage. We have to get back to basic fundamental football.”
Marathon’s Gage Seehafer scored from 25 and 5 yards in the first quarter, then Jake Dinkel stepped up with 60- and 28-yard TD receptions in the second. Vince Dinkel returned a punt 80 yards to paydirt before halftime.
Jake Dinkle scored a 31-yard catch in the third. Collin Seubert was 8-of-13 for 237 yards and 3 TD’s.
The Hatchets were limited to just 93 yards of offense in 40 plays, including just 13 yards of rushing on 27 carries.
Austin Bellile did complete 7-of-13 passes for 80 yards, including two apiece to Eddie Yirsa (37 yds.), Lorne Ahrens (21) and Turner Wegener (15), and one to A.J. Bunce (5).
Jake Borchardt picked up 35 yards on 7 rushes, but Bellile was ct down for -12 on 15 attempts. Ahrens picked up 4 yards on 3 carries.
Leading the Hatchet defense were: Mitch Schauer (1 solo, 4 assists, 1 int.); Borchardt (2 s, 4 a); Ahrens (1 s, 2 a, 1 int.); Wegener (1 s, 1 a, 1 PBU); Austin Ehn (2 s, 1 a); Adam FauFau (2 s, 1 a); Yirsa (2 s); and John Rupel (1 s, 2 a).
Tomahawk fell to 1-4 in the Marawood and overall, while Marathon bumped up to 4-1.
