John Yackel appointed Lincoln County Circuit Court judge

Today, Governor Walker announced the appointment of attorney John Yackel to the position of Lincoln County Circuit Court Judge Branch II.
Yackel graduated from Marquette University Law School and has worked as a law clerk and private attorney, representing clients in criminal and civil cases.
In recommending Yackel, retired Eau Claire County Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Proctor said Yackel possesses wisdom, patience, and impartiality. “As a lawyer, John is hard working and a dedicated advocated for his clients,” Proctor said. “As a judge, I have no doubt that John would exhibit these same qualities and competently and proudly serve the people of Lincoln County and the State of Wisconsin.”
Marathon County Circuit Court Judge Michael Moran added in a letter of recommendation, “John is an outstanding lawyer. He is always prepared and professional. I feel his abilities and background have prepared him to be an outstanding judge.”
Attorney Peter Rotter said in a letter of recommendation, “He and I have worked together on some difficult cases and I have come to know that he is bright and intelligent, but, more importantly, has an excellent ability to understand the way that the facts, law, and people involved in a case all come together.”
“I have had the opportunity to work with John on several occasions along with other members of our drug unit,” Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Gary Schneck stated in a letter of recommendation. “We have found John to be an attorney that has a high level of integrity and sense of fairness. John also has a wonderful ability to function and interact with individuals from all walks of life, attributes which would serve the citizens of Lincoln County well.”
Yackel replaces retiring Lincoln County Judge Glenn Hartley.
