Donald R. Weege, age 68, of the Town of Pine River, Lincoln County, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Donald was born May 10, 1944, in Merrill, son of the late Edward and Florence (Reinke) Weege. He married Linda Frederick on September 21, 1974, in Merrill. She survives. Don had been a dairy farmer in the Town of Pine River until 1991. He was also a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service. He had worked at Mitchell Metal for twelve years and bartended at Club Modern for a year. Don enjoyed watching Nascar and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed shooting pool and had been on the former ‘D’s Bear Den’ team. Don also enjoyed golfing, driving his John Deere tractor, snowmobiling, biking, and playing Sheephead. In his earlier years, Don enjoyed hunting and camping. Don was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Weege, of the Town of Pine River; one daughter, Tara (Willy) Schelbert, of Merrill; two grandsons, Elijah and Ethan Schelbert, both of Merrill; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Frederick, of Merrill; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Weege, of Wausau; one brother-in-law, Jack (Kathy) Frederick, of Wausau; one niece, Heather (Andy) Klade; and one nephew, Tim (Mel) Frederick. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Weege; one brother, Roger Weege; and his father-in-law, Elmer Frederick.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Burial will take place in Springbrook Cemetery, Town of Pine River. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday and after 12:00 P.M., Noon, on Monday all at the funeral home. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
