Man rescued from boating accident on Lake Nokomis

On June 14, at about 12:21 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man who had fallen out of his boat on Lake Nokomis near Rapel Road in the town of Bradley. Units from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Tomahawk Fire Department and Tomahawk EMS responded to the scene. The person who called in the situation was able to take his personal water craft and rescue the victim. The victim, Michael D. Niewolny, 59, of Wausau, was transported to Ministry Sacred Heart for evaluation, his condition is not life threatening.
There was a brief search made for the boat, however due to a thunderstorm and nearby lightning strikes it was suspended. The boat was later recovered by the owner’s family.
