Harvey D. Graap, age 71, of Merrill, died Saturday, May 26, 2012.
Harvey was born May 15, 1941, in Merrill, son of the late Alfred and Myrtle (Wiesman) Graap. He married Cathy Wipperfurth in 1986, and she preceded him in death in 2001. Harvey was a self-employed auto mechanic. He enjoyed racing cars; NASCAR and Jeff Gordon; working on cars; fishing; gardening; and the Green Bay Packers. Harvey also enjoyed the company of his pet dog “Oreo”.
Survivors include (2) daughters, Linda Jackson, Merrill, and Suzanne (Lon) Schulz, Wausau; (2) sons, Dan (Jessica) Graap and Brad (Janice) Graap, both of Merrill; (12) grandchildren, Gavin, Megan, Lynn, Genevieve, Joshua, Sheena, Savannah, Zach, Nathan, Jesse, Devon, and Miah; (4) great grandchildren, Madison, Dylan, Jaedyn, and Olivia; (1) brother, Donald (Darlene) Graap, Merrill; and (1) sister, Delores Schemelhorn, Merrill. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Myrtle Graap; (1) sister, Evelyn Shaver; and (1) brother, Alfred Graap, Jr.
Burial of Harvey’s cremated remains will take place at a later date in Chat Cemetery, town of Birch, next to his wife Cathy.
A celebration of Harvey’s life will take place from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Rock Island Resort in the Town of Merrill.
