John E. Kuehn

John E. Kuehn, 87, former resident of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.

He was born November 16, 1924 in Merrill to the late Richard & Pauline (Allgaier) Kuehn. In 1964, John was united in marriage with Elinor Rowl.
John attended school in Merrill. He worked at Peterman Brothers Dept. Store in Merrill. In 1941, John went into the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific until WWII ended. He was honorably discharged November 26, 1945. When John returned to the states he worked at various jobs and attended the Famous Artists Correspondence School. He began a career in artwork, signs and house painting, retiring in 2000. John truly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor Kuehn, Owatonna, MN; children: Jon (Beth) Kuehn, Manitowoc, Michael (Becky) Kuehn, Merrill, and Carl Kuehn, Wausau; and one brother: Richard (Shirley) Kuehn, Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen, and brother, Billy.
Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, May 14, 2012 at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Drach will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
