Arlene M. Wendt

Arlene M. Wendt, 88, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Walnut Grove Assisted Living in Merrill, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

She was born June 14, 1923 in the town of Berlin to the late Gerhardt & Martha (Berg) Plautz. On September 23, 1950 Arlene married Roger Wendt in the town of Berlin. He preceded her in death January 5, 1998.
Arlene had worked for Marathon Electric until she got married. She then farmed with her husband Roger in the town of Hamburg until 1985. Arlene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church – Hamburg where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. She loved to cook & bake and enjoyed playing cards and gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters: Marjean (Peter) Hartway, Marathon, and LeAnn (Mark) Voigt, Merrill; five grandchildren: Joshua (Nicole) Hartway, Matthew (Kristin Myszka) Hartway, Megan (Tom Henrichs) Voigt, Adam (Ericka) Voigt and Ryan (Melissa) Voigt; 12 great grandchildren: Dawson, Keghan, Emma, Brooklyn, Lainey, Braiden, Carson, Hudson, Madelyn, Evan, Easton & Christian; two brothers-in-law: Werner Weiss, Marathon, and Orvel Utech, Wisconsin Rapids; and one sister-in-law: Evelyn Plautz, Wausau. She was preceded by her parents, husband Roger, three sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church – Hamburg. The Rev. James Klug will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11 AM Saturday before the service at the church. Burial will be in St John Cemetery – Hamburg. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church – Hamburg.
