Elaine C. Gano

Elaine C. Gano, age 84, of Wausau, formerly of Merrill, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation, Wausau.
Elaine was born January 17, 1928, in Merrill, daughter of the late Harvey and Clara (Jaeger) Emanuel. She married Philip Patrick Gano in 1948. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1952. Elaine was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Elaine was a very devoted mother and stayed at home with her children until the youngest was 18. She then went to work at Lincoln Wood Products, Merrill. Elaine was very close to her family and enjoyed all the family gatherings. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and baking.
Survivors include two daughters, Charmaine Gano, of Wausau, and Patricia (Scott) MacKenzie, of Two Rivers; one son, Bruce (Dawn) Gano, of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren, Eric (Kristy) Gano, Michael (Tracy) Rhyner, Nicole (Randy) Halbach, Tiffany (Lamont Bonham) Everett, and Hanna Rhyner; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty (Donald) Krueger, of St. Germain, and Joann Johnson and Mary Ann Riebe, both of Merrill; one brother, Harvey (Betty Lou) Emanuel, Jr., of Palm Coast, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Jacob Gano; three brothers, infant James, Gerald, and Roger Emanuel; and one nephew, Steve Emanuel.
The funeral will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family wishes to thank Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care provided to Elaine.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill.
