Leland ?Butch? Boldt

Leland “Butch” Boldt, age 96, Tomahawk, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Golden Living Center – Riverview in Tomahawk.
Butch was born Oct. 8, 1915 in Bagley, WI, the son of Herman and Mildred (Griest) Boldt. He was married to Catherine Schuetz on Dec. 25, 1940 in Tomahawk; she passed away in 1968. He later married Gretchen Schuetz-Tremel in August 1976; she died in 1994.
He came to Tomahawk in the 1930s to work at a CCC Camp. Butch served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He later worked as a truck driver for Tomahawk Dairy, Tomahawk Bottling Works, and Daigle Oil. Butch moved to the Wausau area in 1980, where he enjoyed singing with the Wausau Senior Chorus, and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He returned to the Tomahawk area in July 2011 to be near his children.
Survivors include his children, Judy (Ed) Olson, Tomahawk, Joseph “Salty” Boldt, Tomahawk, John “Pepper” (Susan) Boldt, Winneconne; brother Darol “Rusty” (Dale) Boldt, Prairie du Chein. Butch is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, son Tom, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leland “Butch” Boldt will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at noon. Military Rites will precede Mass. Burial will be in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
Memorials are appreciated to: Wisconsin Council for the Blind, The Seeing Eye, Pediatric Low Grade Astrocytoma (PLGA), or St. Mary Catholic School.
