Man arrested after pointing shotgun at LCSD deputy

On Thursday, July 21, at about 7:45 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Hwy. 51 near Lincoln Drive in the town of Merrill. Deputies and units from the State Patrol were looking for the vehicle when it was again reported on Cty. K near Cty. H. A deputy located and stopped the vehicle near Spruce Road.

The deputy made contact with the driver, Bruce Anthony Lyon-Dugin, 55, of Minneapolis, MN, and noticed that he appeared intoxicated. When the deputy returned to the vehicle, Lyon-Dugin had produced a short-barreled shotgun. He then pointed the firearm out the window. A short standoff then occurred between Lyon-Dugin and the deputy.

Lyon-Dugin then exited the vehicle without the weapon. He refused to comply with the deputy’s instructions and had to be physically subdued to be taken into custody.

UPDATE: Lyon-Dugin appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court Tuesday and was charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a firearm while intoxicated and resisting/obstructing an officer. He was released on bond. His next court date is set for Sept. 1.
