Dorinda’s students compete at International Dance Challenge

Students from Dorinda’s Dance Studio recently competed in the International Dance Challenge Dance Contest at the Performing Arts Center in Appleton. The pictured group performing their Tap routine “Mean Girls” was selected, performed and won the Entertainment Dance Challenge Dance Off for the Senior Division. They were awarded the most “Entertaining” out of 211 performances of the entire day.

As the winners of the Entertainment Dance Challenge this group won a scholarship to the 2011 Dance Olympus Dance Workshop.

Dorinda’s Dance Studio had 2 routines make it into the Junior Entertainment Challenge out of 221 performances. They were “Mountain Music” – Tap – a Platinum award winner (Platinum = highest award); and “Car’s That Go Boom”- Hip Hop – a High Gold award winner. “Mountain Music” performed in the challenge and represented well.

Dorinda’s Dance Studio also brought home many awards, including: “Fire Burnin'”- a Clogging routine received a platinum and the Precision award in the Senior Division; “OH The Thinks” a Pointe routine, awarded Best Costume in the Senior Divisions; “Mountain Music” a Tap routine: Awarded Best Costume in the Junior Division; “DJ Got Us” a Hip Hip routine – 1st runner up high point in the Junior Division; “Outta Your Mind” a Hip Hop routine – 1st runner up high point in the Senior Division; “Rock Star” a Hip Hop routine – 2nd runner up high point in the Senior Division.

In addition Dorinda’s Dance Studio and staff overall was recognized for outstanding Hip Hop and having a “fierce” Hip Hop program in the Junior Division for the performances “DJ Got Us,” “Break Your Heart” and “Cars That Go Boom” and stand out Tap choreography and a strong Tap program for the Tap routines “Earth Angel,” “Fire Burnin'” and “Mean Girls” in the Senior Division.
