RR?s trip up THS

The THS baseball team dropped both ends of Thursday’s double-header with Antigo, falling 7-2 in the conference game and 4-3 in non-league nightcap.
“With our defense playing like they did today by giving them extra outs, we will struggle to win games,” Tomahawk coach Bill Turgeon said. “Tyler Jones pitched five good innings, but was plagued by sloppy defense that accounted for five errors.”
The Red Robins led 2-0 after the third and Tomahawk tied it in the fourth. But Antigo’s 5-run fifth provided more than enough for the win.
Jones (0 W, 5 K, 7 R, 4 ER in 5 I) took the loss in Game 1. Kory Brietzke (2-3) and Seth Westcott (1-2, 2B, RBI) paced Tomahawk.
In the second contest, Dylan Brietzke (2 W, 2 K, 2 R in 4 I) started, and Westcott (1 H, 2 W, 1 K, 2 R in 1/3 I) took the loss. K. Brietzke (0 H, 1 K in 1-2/3 I) closed it out.
“We had only 3 hits, but had 10 walks and couldn’t capitalize on our opportunities,” Turgeon said. “We had a golden opportunity in the sixth with bases loaded with nobody out and failed to score.”
The Hatchets did tally 3 in the third on 2 hits and 3 walks, aided by an Andy Firkus two-run single and D. Brietzke RBI walk.
