Carl ?Pete? Janisch

Carl “Pete” Janisch, 69, of Merrill, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his home. He was born in Merrill on October 28, 1941 to the late Carl D. & Elsie (Leopold) Janisch. On December 21, 1972 Pete married Nancy Travis in Merrill. She preceded him in death January 11, 1999.
Pete was a graduate of Wausau Senior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served a portion of his 6 years of service in Vietnam. Pete worked in construction and was a member of the Local Laborers Union #1359. He enjoyed Nascar and attended many races. Pete also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, gambling, bowling and cribbage. He attended Hodag for years and was a close follower of the Green Bay Packers. Pete was also a member of the local VFW Post #1638.
Survivors include his daughters: Bobbi (Andrew) Lee and Colleen Janisch, all of Merrill; step-daughter: Sharon (Steve) Lee, of Merrill; step-son: Guy Bartron, of Merrill; brothers: Dale (Linda) Janisch and Michael (Beverly) Janisch, all of Merrill; sisters: Barbara (Leon) Hoerter, of Wausau, and Sally (Gerhard) Hannemann, of Merrill; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and his parents.
Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2011, at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Hans Heisinger will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Military honors will be preformed by VFW Post #1638. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post #1638. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
