Edward J. Moyer

Edward J. Moyer, 86, of Merrill, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Edward was born February 24, 1924, in Merrill, son of the late Edward F. and Agnes (Jehn) Moyer. He married Florence Kloke on November 10, 1951, in Merrill. She survives. Edward attended Val Paraiso University for one semester before enlisting in the United States Army. Edward served his county during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. Upon returning from service, Edward took a job with the United States Postal Service, working in Merrill. He began his career as a letter carrier and then was a mail clerk. Edward was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He enjoyed golfing, and collecting stamps and coins, a hobby he shared with his father. Edward was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill, and for the local Meals on Wheels program. He also helped many of his neighbors with painting projects.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Moyer, of Merrill; one daughter Ann Andersen, of Delavan; one son, Gary Moyer, of Merrill; three granddaughters, Kari Mikolyzk, of New Berlin, Emily Derschner, of Delavan, and Megan Andersen, of Portland, Oregon; one great-grandson, Andrew Gengler; one brother, Eugene (Nancy) Moyer, of Wausau; one sister-in-law, Colleen (Pete) Caylor, of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and one brother-in-law, John ‘Jack’ (Beth) Kloke, of Hallieford, Virginia. Edward was preceded in death by an infant brother, Earl.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. A private family funeral service will be held. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
