‘Everyday People’ honoring our community volunteers

The Host Agencies Recognition Committee (HARC) is honored to be hosting the 2nd annual Volunteer Recognition evening on Thursday, April 14 at the Eagles Club in Merrill. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. This event promotes volunteerism and recognizes those individuals who have so generously given their time, energy and skills to improve the lives of others. HARC gives all an opportunity to say thank you to each and every volunteer for their hand in changing our world.

The public is invited to nominate individuals who have made a significant positive impact on your school, agency or organization. A panel of judges, made up of community leaders who recognize the merits of volunteerism, will consider the following qualities in selecting outstanding volunteers: the volunteer’s activities, time, impact, initiative, creativity, leadership and effectiveness. Nomination forms must be received no later than April 1.

All nominees will be recognized in the program for the event and receive a certificate of appreciation at the ceremony. There will be four categories to choose from: Youth, Youth organization, Adult and Adult organization. Approximately four of the nominees will be selected to receive a special recognition for their outstanding volunteer efforts. They will be invited on stage during the event and will receive a “Volunteerism at its Best” award.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the Merrill Chamber of Commerce, The Smith Center, Merrill Area Community Enrichment Center or downloaded from the Merrill Chamber of Commerce website, www.merrillchamberofcommerce.com.
