Robert John Hirnschall

Robert John Hirnschall (‘Poncho’), age 79, of Merrill, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Robert was born June 12, 1933, in Merrill, son of the late Frank and Alice (Kufahl) Hirnschall.  Robert loved God, family, and people.  In 1954, Robert served his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman.  He received a letter of commendation from his commanding officer for being energetic, and enthusiastic in his performance of duty.  The Captain acknowledged his display of integrity, soldierly bearing, attitude, and performance of duty having exerted an outstanding influence on his fellow servicemen.  He served our country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Robert was a life member of the V.F.W.
Robert was involved in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.  He was blessed with 9 ‘little brothers’ and 3 ‘little sisters’. 
Robert retired from Appleton Coated Paper.  He loved cutting and selling wood.  He rented tractors, trailers, and his truck. 
Survivors include his sisters, Marjorie ‘Marge’ (Harold) Kapitzke, of Appleton, Marcia (John) Dalke, of Irma, Sharon (Lowell) Skeens, of Appleton, and Diane (John) Rell, of Merrill.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice (Kufahl) Hirnschall; and one brother, Elliot Hirnschall. 
The funeral will be at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  Mrs. Diane Rell will officiate. Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. in the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Mrs. Rell will also officiate this service. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park with graveside military rites. 
The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
