Helen E. Jaeger
Helen E. Jaeger, age 93, of Merrill, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Helen was born on January 2, 1920, in Merrill, daughter of the late John and Ida (Hartwig) Severt. She married Alfred Jaeger on October 18, 1947, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1990. Helen was a homemaker but had also worked as a dietary aid for ten years at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Helen was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, watching game shows, and volunteering as a Sunday school teacher. Helen will be remembered as someone who was always there when anyone needed her.
Survivors include four daughters, Pam (Emery Zastrow) Kufahl, Barbara (John) Pophal, Mary (David) Gryskiewicz, and Terri (Steve, Sr.) Strand, all of Merrill; four sons, Alan (Karen) Jaeger, Greg (Jean) Jaeger, Jeff (Tracey) Jaeger, and Rodney Jaeger, all of Merrill; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren on-the-way; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Rahlf and Gayle Kulawinski, both of Merrill; several nieces and nephews; and her “honorary daughter”, Darlene Mathis, of Merrill. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Donald and John Severt; one grandson, John Pophal; and two great-grandsons, Colton Norman and Dawson David.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
