James Allen Schlueter

James Allen Schlueter, 68, of Merrill, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, at his residence in the Town of Maine.

James Allen Schlueter was born July 11, 1944, to the late Earlies and Lucille Schlueter.
Following graduation from Merrill Senior High School, James enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962, and he was honorably discharged in 1968. James then worked at Wausau Papers for 39 years, retiring in 2009. In his free time, James enjoyed hunting and fishing. As an avid Packer fan it was rare for him to miss one of their games. James also enjoyed setting puzzles and completing many word search books. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Town of Maine.
James is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy (Luedtke) Schlueter of Merrill; his children, Amy Henderson of Aurora, Colorado, Nicole Schlueter of Houston, Texas, and Breann Schlueter of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one brother, Dennis (Kathleen) Schlueter of Menomonie, Wisconsin; and his in laws, Russell Luedtke, Vickie (Tim) Bartelt, and Brian (Marilyn) Luedtke, all of Merrill, and Cindy Luedtke of Wausau. Besides his parents, James is preceded in death by a brother in law, Jody Luedtke.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, Town of Maine. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine, with graveside military rites conducted by the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.
