Elaine M. Engel, age 87, of Merrill, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Elaine was born July 29, 1925, the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha (Gehrt) Weber Sr. She married the love of her life, Raymond Engel on Sept. 27, 1947 in Merrill. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2007.
In her early years Elaine worked at the Hanson Glove Company. She spent most of her life as a mother and a homemaker and was the secretary for Ray Engel Construction Company. Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. She was a member of the Neighborly Card Club. Elaine enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking and playing cards. She will be remembered for her wit and humor. Elaine was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by 5 daughters, Janice (Jim) Alft of Merrill, Gloria Kunkel of Tomahawk, Debra Engel-Rajek, Pamela (Gene) Mohrland and Brenda (Dan) Adamec, all of Merrill; one son, Gerald (Kim) Engel, of Merrill; two sisters, Marion (Milton) Buntrock of Merrill and Dorothy (Jake) Bauman-Blake of Birchdale, MN; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Benson, Selma Weber and Honey Weber, all of Merrill; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; 2 sons-in-law, Wayne Rajek and Robert Kunkel; 3 brothers, Leslie, Earl and Harry Weber Jr.; and a sister, Joan.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, Feb. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Waid Funeral Home and again on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Pastor Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery in the town of Scott.
