June D. Kretzschmar

June D. Kretzschmar, age 84, a long time Merrill resident, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
June was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Otto and Marie (Haach) Wesener. She married Oscar H. Kretzschmar, a long time teacher in Merrill, on Dec. 17, 1950 in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1997. 
June was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, knitting, and camping with her family. She was also an avid reader. As a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, she participated in the choir, and as a member of the Ladies Aid she enjoyed making pies for church events. June had also been a member of the Lioness Club in Merrill. She enjoyed watching Packer and Badger games, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Shirley) Kretzschmar, Wausau; her daughter, Julie Kretzschmar, Stevens Point; three grandchildren, Sarah Kretzschmar, Merrill, Emily Kretzschmar, Pewaukee, and Matthew Kretzschmar, Wausau; her brother, Rev. Donald (Doris) Wesener of Wisconsin Rapids; her sister, Marge Hornes, Sheboygan; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by her daughter, Kerry L. Kretzschmar, in 2008.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
