George A. Wanless

George A. Wanless, age 84, of Merrill, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
George was born on July 24, 1927, in the town of Corning, to the late Arthur & Clara (Vogt) Wanless. He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Natzke on September 29, 1956 in Merrill. George served in the United States Army during the time of the Korean War. He was a member of the Merrill Lions Club, serving as treasurer for a number of years. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from the Lions Club for his humanitarian service. George was a graduate of Devri Technical Institute which led to a career at Wanless TV and Appliance for 28 years. He enjoyed traveling and spent summers at his cottage in upper Michigan and winters in Mission, Texas.
George was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Wanless and Gertrude Reist, and brother, Fred Wanless.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; son, Timothy (Kathleen) Wanless, Ringle; daughter, Elsa Woosley, Delta, PA; daughter: Gail Wanless, Weston; grandchildren, Sara (Philip) Beck, Weston, Dawn Woosley, Delta, PA; and Eric Wanless, Ringle, and brother, Leonard (Doris) Wanless, Merrill.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 N. State St, Merrill. The Rev. Stolarczyk will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Waid Funeral Home, 301 Eagle Dr, Merrill, and also at Trinity Lutheran Church from 9 AM until the time of service on Monday. Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Merrill. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.

    Sending sincere condolences on the human side and rejoicing with you on the spiritual side, at the passing of your dear husband. My late husband, Lawrence, and I were friends of your parents and fellow members at Trinity.
