Man dies while hunting in Tomahawk area
On Thursday at approximately 9:36 p.m. the Lincoln County dispatch center received a 911 call from a subject advising he went out to check on his father who was supposed to be hunting in the woods. The wooded area was located on Hwy. 86 in the town of Tomahawk, about 10 miles west of the city of Tomahawk.
The male party was found unresponsive underneath his tree stand. A deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Tomahawk EMS were first on the scene and determined the subject was deceased.
According to a sheriff's department report, it appeared the man may have suffered a heart attack while on top of the approximately 20-foot high tree stand and fell to the ground. Foul play is not suspected.
A warden from the Department of Natural Resources and members of the Tomahawk Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
