Lincoln County Sheriff's Department reports
An 18 year old Tomahawk man was arrested last Monday evening on a warrant charge and will face additional charges after deputies found a wanted person in the city of Tomahawk. Deputies went to Toddler Park on North Fourth Street just before 8 p.m. after receiving a tip that Alex M. Welke was there. Welke was wanted by probation and parole after he failed to report to serve a jail sentence. Welke was taken into custody on the warrant charge but during a check of his vehicle deputies found a car stereo that was reported stolen in February from a residence in the town of Bradley. A report will be sent to the district attorney for charges of possession of stolen property and theft. Tomahawk Police assisted with the arrest.
The Pine River Fire Department, DNR ranger and deputies responded to a reported grass fire last Tuesday afternoon on Center Rd. A 911 call reported the fire in the 2000 block of Center Rd at noon. When a deputy arrived a short time later he found the residents had extinguished the small fire on their own. The fire started after a camp fire from the evening before had been re-kindled by high winds. The matter was turned over to the DNR Ranger.
The number of car deer crashes is down again with only three being reported this past week. On Saturday a Wabeno woman reported the first turkey strike of the new year. The bird was struck on State Rd 64 near Deer Run Rd. The driver was not injured but her vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
