Labor Day weekend crash in town of Merrill
The Merrill Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at Hwy. 51 and Cty. Rd. K in the Town of Merrill Saturday. At 9:48 a.m., the Lincoln County 911 Dispatch Center received the 911 call indicating an accident around the overpass with unknown injuries or entrapment. Merrill Medic-1, Medic-3, and Rescue-1, along with the Lincoln County Sheriff Department, arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved. Incident command requested off-duty Merrill firefighter/EMTs and Tomahawk EMS for mutual aid.
An initial triage of the patients revealed multiple patients. Merrill Medic-2 with off-duty staff was sent to the scene as well. A total of five patients were transported by Merrill Fire & EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill. Absorbent material was spread to control leaking vehicle fluid. Traffic was stopped until the roadway was cleared. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
