City to discuss future of fire stations
The Merrill City Council, meeting as the Committee of the Whole, will discuss the future of Merrill's two fire stations on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers.
Architects from Becher-Hoppe will be presenting their evaluation of existing city fire stations and reviewing potential future options which have been developed with input from Merrill Fire Department personnel. Potential modernization and expansion of the existing east side Fire Station No. 1 as well as potential construction of a new fire station at a new location will be reviewed and discussed.
The information being presented and discussed at this meeting will assist the Common Council members in determining whether the existing west side Fire Station No. 2 could potentially be closed and sold in the future.
