Home destroyed by fire in town of Birch
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at N6979 Grundy Rd. in the Town of Birch.
When deputies arrived a short time later they found smoke and flames coming from a trailer house with a second trailer house being threatened.
Firefighters from the Town of Russell Fire Department responded to the fire. They received assistance from the Tomahawk Fire Department who provided a tanker, and the Pine River Fire Department who moved up an engine to the Town of Russell station.
The home owner Kenny Gano told deputies the fire started in a wall and was possibly electrical in nature. He was able to safely evacuate the residence after placing the 911 call.
The structure was a total loss. Gano told deputies he had no insurance on the home.
