Benefit for Erika Nelson Saturday
A benefit will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, for Erika Nelson, a Merrill High School graduate and current UW Madison student. Erika was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and had a double mastectomy on July 3. She is now in the middle of six weeks of daily radiation treatments.
The benefit for Erika is a banquet type event at Merrill Town Hall, W4594 Progress Ave., Merrill. Tickets are $50 and being sold in advance, with plenty of tickets still available. Tickets will also be sold at the door as well on Saturday. Ticket includes dinner, entry for door prize and live entertainment. Beer, wine and mixed drinks will be available on a free will donation basis. A cake/pie auction will follow dinner. Live entertainment will be provided by a band playing ‘50-60s music.
Nelson's Power House is coordinating the event, offering a number of major prizes including a Toshiba flat screen TV, Husqvarna chainsaw, Ariens snowblower, Toro lawnmower, and Briggs and Stratton pressure washer. Other prizes will include Packers tickets/items, Badger shirts, complimentary hotel rooms, gift certificates from restaurants, auto dealerships, jewelry stores, gift shops and more for silent auctions and raffles at the event. There will be a recliner or two and gun raffles as well. Gift certificates have also been donated by a number of Madison hotels and restaurants.
