On behalf of St. John Church and School, there will be a golf outing to raise funds to help offset the costs of operating the school. This outing will take place on May 20, at the Merrill Golf Course, and the public is invited to attend. The cost is $35 per person, for a 4 person team, which includes 9 holes of golf, cart, and 2 drink tickets, along with dinner and prizes following the outing. There will be registration at 12:30 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be three flights of best ball.
Riverside Athletic Club announces the third annual Run United 10K. 5K and 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 19 with the start/finish line at its location at 500 S. Center Ave. in Merrill. The event begins at 10 a.m.
Northcentral Technical College Criminal Justice Club is holding a brat fry fundraiser. All proceeds will be donated to Northcentral Technical College to give a student a scholarship in memory of Jamison Kampmeyer, a Marathon County Sheriff Deputy and Colby Firefighter who lost his life battling the Abby Theatre Fire on March 4, 2012.
The Merrill High School Bands will convene one last time this year for their annual "Awards Concert." The concert will feature the Symphonic Band under the direction of Matt Callope, the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Kevin Short, and the Jazz Ensemble 1 under the direction of Matt Callope. There will also be several awards handed out to very deserving MHS Band students.
Author Yvonne Madden will give a presentation about the stories and traditions behind her historical novel Emelia at T.B. Scott Free Library's Community Room on Sunday, May 20 at 1 p.m.
