Merrill’s Brandon Knoop had a trophy year in the outdoors in the Town of Merrill. At 8:30 on opening morning of the November gun season, he bagged this 10-point buck with 22-1/2” spread. The 175-pound buck was shot at approximately 75 yards using a 30-30.
Merrill’s Megan Parsons took this shot on Opening Day of gun deer season, Sat., Nov. 17th, from her tree stand south of Merrill on Hwy. W. “While I was not able to shoot a deer this year, I was able to see this mother bear and her three cubs since the weather was so warm,” she said.
Merrill’s Michelle Rose got this big 8-point buck behind her home at 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 4. She took a 35-yard shot using a Traditions 2 muzzleloader. “I’ve been hunting him all fall, just waiting for him to come in,” she said. “I was hunting him through the bow and gun seasons. I saw him once as he ran past me chasing a doe.” Rose had first spotted the buck on a trail cam. This was the first deer she harvested during the muzzleloader season after four years of trying.

Merrill’s Tim Mueske shot his first buck in three years when he harvested this beauty at 10:45 a.m. on opening day. The 10-point buck had a 19 inch inside spread and dressed out at 165 pounds. He took a 60-yard shot with his .30-06 while hunting in the town of Rock Falls.
The first deer harvested for Merrill’s Christa Schleif, 16, was this wide-racked 9-pointer. The daughter of Barry and Karen Schleif was hunting in the Town of Corning at 4 p.m. on Opening Day when she bagged the buck.
Merrill’s Aaron Schnabl, 12, shot this 160-pound, 6-point buck late Sunday afternoon on opening weekend of the gun season. He took a 40-yard shot with a 7 mm-.08 rifle on family land in Ogema. “I was with him in the stand when he shot the buck,” his father, Brad, said. “It was quite the experience!”
